Out of the nearly $76 billion in federal funds allocated to Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria - which caused a catastrophe on the island starting on September 20, 2017 - $46.825 billion were granted under FEMA.

In a preliminary report on the progress of Puerto Rico’s recovery, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) said the process is “paving the way” to an “unprecedented opportunity” to integrate resilience measures.
